Tag and Bag, September 27, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: JBL 6' Breakdown Travel Polespear (2D72) (Misc.) I purchased this pole spear after going on several lionfish hunting trips in the Caribbean. These poisonous invasive fish need to be "tagged and bagged." This pole spear allows us to easily take multiple fish on each dive. It is light and maneuverable - very good for nailing fish hanging out on coral heads or wrecks.

I purchased this spear with the specific task of killing Lionfish. I was between this and the folding spear on the elastic band. I am much happier with the threaded ends as you can adjust the length as desired.
Unlike the other review here, I found the paralyzer tip to be far more effective and was glad I took both tips down with me on the dive. My only complaint is that after Killing about the first 100 Lions, the elastic shock band snapped at the point where it connects to the pole. The design here is kind of crappy and I immediately regretted not buying the replacement. As I was in a poorly equipped place, the remedy for the rest of my dives was to try and use a hacked loop which greatly diminished the fire power of the spear.
The remaining piece of elastic was showing severe stress at the point where it connects to the end cap, so my advice to the diver is buy a few replacements. Kinda wish they would package another with it or maybe devise an end that can be... Read more

This polespear is very well built with solid joints and very ligth to carry. It seems to be much more difficult to spearfish with this compared to regular spearguns. But this extra challenge is a good one. I really recommend this polespear for any spearfisher wanting a new experience in the sport!
